Reunió Anual de Consorcis TackSHS i Interim Workshop (CAT/EN)

El 8 d’octubre de 2018 es va celebrar a Barcelona la Reunió anual del Consorci del projecte TackSHS. Investigadors de 11 institucions es van unir per discutir el progrés del projecte, els resultats preliminars i planificar els passos següents. La reunió va ser precedida pel Interim Workshop de TackSHS (del 9 al 10 d’octubre) amb la participació del Consell Assessor del projecte, experts externs i la Officer del projecte. El taller va tenir com a objectiu avaluar els enfocaments i els primers resultats del projecte, i fer recomanacions per continuar treballant a través d’un debat interactiu amb els experts. Aquests esdeveniments van suposar dos passos importants en el desenvolupament del projecte i van proporcionar al Consorci valuosos inputs i consells.

Els resultats preliminars del projecte indiquen que l’exposició al fum ambiental del tabac i la nicotina, en particular, es produeix en una quantitat important d’espais públics que sovint no estan regulats per les polítiques d’espais lliures de fum, com ara els parcs infantils o les terrasses, amb nivells alarmants d’exposició a alguns països. Es va detectar nicotina a les cases i als cotxes dels fumadors fins i tot en casos en què els participants van informar que no fumaven en aquests entorns. Aquests són només alguns dels resultats preliminars d’un dels estudis del projecte; no obstant això, ja suggereixen arguments suficients per a la promoció d’espais lliures de fum i la promoció de polítiques que protegeixin la població, especialment els nens, d’exposició involuntària al fum de tabac usat.

On 8^th of October 2018 the Annual Consortium Meeting of the TackSHS project took place in Barcelona. Researchers from 11 participating institutions came together to discuss project progress, preliminary results and plan further steps. The meeting was followed by the TackSHS Interim Meeting (October 9^th -10^th) with participation of the project Advisory Board, external experts and Project Officer. The Interim Workshop aimed to evaluate the approaches and the first results of the project, and to make recommendations for further work through an interactive discussion with the experts. These both events were important steps in the project development and provided the Consortium with valuable inputs and advice.

The preliminary results of the project indicate that exposure to second-hand smoke and nicotine in particular occurs in an important amount of public areas that are often not regulated by smoke-free policies, such as children playgrounds or terraces, with alarming levels of exposure in some countries. Nicotine was detected in houses and cars of the smokers even in some cases where the participants reported not smoking in those settings. These are just some of the preliminary results of one of the TackSHS studies; nevertheless, they already suggest arguments for promotion of smoke-free places and advocacy of the policies that will protect population, especially children, from involuntary exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke.
